LabourWatch Testifies on Employees’ Voting Rights Act

Bill C-525 guarantees Federally regulated employees a secret ballot vote on unionization. It puts an end to union leaders being able to unionize federal (both private and government sector) employees with union cards only. The Bill also makes the process for unionization and becoming union-free essentially the same. A majority of Canadian provinces guarantee a majority of Canadian workers a secret ballot vote instead of giving union leaders the ability to avoid votes by using union cards only.
C-525 has been amended and approved by the Federal House of Commons. It is in its final Senate stages.
C-525 changes the Canada Labour Code, the Parliamentary Employment and Staff Relations Act and the Public Service Labour Relations Act.
